A quick note to share a local article highlighting the
reason DNR removed Callery pear and Norway maple from the draft terrestrial
plant rule. Not only are developed areas bombarded by invasive species;
our natural areas, areas that offer sanctuaries for rare, threatened and
endangered species, provide recreation, beauty, local revenue (e.g. Brown County State
Park), and many additional attributes, are negatively impacted as well.
